Climate Farmers

Save farming with trees – a community revolutionizing agriculture

Paul and Janine are transforming a run-down farm in the Palatinate region into a very innovative agricultural business: they want to plant 1 million trees on 100 hectares of land in the next 5 years, thereby laying the foundations for a completely new form of agriculture lay. The project is to become Europe’s largest model farm and show that a regenerative system, in contrast to conventional forms of agriculture, can not only destroy the humus content of the soil, but build it up. This means that there is an opportunity not only to reduce CO2 from the atmosphere, but to bind it in the humus and to provide the answer to the great question of how we can save the next generation from a climate catastrophe. On the “Hof Lebensberg” various sustainable agricultural models are to be combined as examples and thus applied together on one area for the first time in Germany. To make their dream come true, the committed couple needs a whole host of helpers who work on the farm and live there as a community. The film accompanies Paul and Janine in their attempt Working with a handful of committed people to transform barren wasteland into a sustainable, biodiverse and economically viable cultural landscape.
